FTP TIP: How to Edit Your Web Pages Within WS_FTP

Did you know that the 'Edit' option within WS_FTP allows you to edit a file that's on a remote site? Just select a file from the 'remote site' (right pane), right click, then select 'Edit' from the available options (or select 'Operations' then 'Edit', depending on your version). WS_FTP Pro will then transfer the file to a temp directory on your local system and open it with the associated 'edit' application (for example, Notepad for txt files). When you close that application, WS_FTP Pro will automatically transfer the file back to the remote FTP site.
You can also specify the application you would like to use as your default editor. All you have to do is change your default program for 'viewing' from Notepad to your HTML editor within WS_FTP. This is done in 'Options' under the 'General' tab. Simply change the path for your 'Text Viewer' by clicking on the 'Browse' button and locating the executable (.exe) of your HTML editor.
Once you've added the path to your HTML editor, click 'OK'. The next time you choose to 'Edit' a file, WS_FTP will open the file in your HTML editor. http://www.ftpplanet.com/cgi/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=FTP+Tips&number=8&DaysPrune=1000
